"If it hadn't been for Rational Therapeutics EVA-PCD functional profile and Dr. Robert Nagourney, I wouldn't be here today. I was diagnosed on October 1, 2008 with Stage IV Non small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with massive pleural effusion. Dr. Mark Renneker recommended that I take the fluid from the pleural effusion and have Dr. Nagourney do a EVA-PCD profile on it. Only by testing the cancer cells did Dr. Nagourney find out that another oncologist's insistence on doing Cisplatin and Taxotere would likely not have worked. Since I only had a few months to live, the guesswork would have cost me my life. Instead, Tarceva came out as the most likely to help from the chemosensitivity test. I started it on November 15, 2008 and have had a wonderful year.

Dr. Nagourney is a genius when it comes to cancer. His dedication to the war on cancer is quite awesome. His broad spectrum of knowledge includes the nuances of customized therapy as well as how to enhance whatever therapies are given. It is refreshing to see an oncologist who is willing to be part of the leading edge. I am eternally grateful for his help in expanding my time on earth - and with such high quality of life.

In my situation of advanced lung cancer and only a few months to live when diagnosed, the wrong treatment decision would easily have been fatal. It is quite surprising to me that an EVA-PCD is not a part of recommended FDA protocol for initial diagnosis and determination of cancer treatment.
