At Rational Therapeutics, we believe every cancer and every cancer patient is unique. With our ex-vivo analyses (EVA) of living tumor cells, we provide a "real time" snapshot (functional profile), of how your cancer behaves when exposed to a variety of chemotherapeutic drugs and combinations. We are able to identify the agents that will work most effectively, eliminate drugs that are likely not to work, and save valuable time in the treatment process. "Functional Profiling" is the only approach that can answer these complex questions.

Using our novel ex-vivo analyses, Rational Therapeutics examines small clusters of cancer cells or microspheroids in their native state. This "functional profiling" takes a snapshot of the cancer's behavior in response to drugs and combinations. By analyzing tumor response in the laboratory, RTI identifies which chemotherapy drugs induce programmed cell death, and also which ones do not. This will determine the most effective therapy for each patient based on his or her individual tumor makeup.

"Functional Profiling" is used to describe human cancer cells' response to drugs, growth factor withdrawal, and other forms of injury. The ex-vivo analysis (EVA) of human tumors provides a novel, real-time view of how living tumors behave within their natural microenvironment. This information can, in turn, accelerate the drug development process and improve clinical therapy. RTI serves the needs of pharmaceutical companies that can benefit from the early ex-vivo profiling of the "functional" activity of novel agents against various human tumor tissue types. Rational Therapeutics is positioned as the conduit for validation of new platforms offering attractive joint venture and co-development opportunities.
